Abstract

This research focuses on the topic of development and advancement of single axis solar tracker with the help of Arduino UNO, which is cost efficient, less complex, and capable of achieving maximum efficiency and maximum output. In this research, light dependent resistors (LDR) are used to detect solar radiation and capture optimum light intensity. Servo motor is used to rotate the solar panel and to sense the maximum light intensity sensed by LDR. A small prototype of single axis solar tracking system is designed to implement methodology. 555 timer IC is the main controlling unit. For the detection of position of the sun in the sky, two LDRs had been used and to move the solar panel a servo motor is employed. The objective of the present work is to develop the solar tracking technology and improve its utilization efficiency. With the help of this method, we can maximize the Solar power generated by the Sun. This system can be used anywhere where we have a relatively larger area to move the solar panel. These trackers follow the sun vertically and horizontally they help obtain maximum solar energy generation. It can increase the efficiency of a solar plate to as much as 40% in some regions. Tracker systems follow the sun throughout the day to maximize energy output. The Solar Tracker is a proven single-axis tracking technology that has been custom designed to integrate with solar modules and reduce system costs. This model also provides a bankable energy production profile preferred by utilities.
