Abstract

A simulation is a representation or is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time. Network simulation is a widespread methodology for performance analysis of communication system engineering. Network simulators express the network artificially for all intents and purpose of network. For different application and developing software there are number of simulators available out of which some are open source and some are proprietary. It is difficult for the user to decide which simulator will be appropriate for their task. Prior to design a network simulator that should provide the finest result, number of surveys and comparisons has to be done, so that a simulator can be formed which will simulate in each and every simulation field. Many of the network simulation tools work on C++ and some are java based simulators. So, our work was confined to do performance comparison between two simulators, one based on C++ and other on Java which will help researchers to find out either C++ or Java based network simulators is better. This paper, presented a performance analysis between NS-2 and J-SIM network simulators on the basis of different parameters viz. residual energy, packet delivery ratio and throughput by implementing proposed work in MANET. For performance analysis graph of each parameter is plotted vs. simulation time. According to simulation result carried out on the basis of parameters NS-2 is better than J-SIM in terms of all the parameters taken.Cite this ArticleNivedita Chopra, Arvind Kalia, Jawahar Thakur.
