Abstract

AbstractIn this paper we basically focus on efficient automatic irrigation system to save water as irrigation is essential and basic requirement in agriculture. Agriculture in India consider for an essential part of GDP almost (16 percent) and employment almost (49 percent) and Agriculture demands about 70 to 80 percent of fresh water resources. Farmers in India generally use drip or sprinkler system, which typically waste water and can often drown the plant by decreasing oxygen in the soil, thus causing root rot, stunted growth, yellow leaves, brown leaves, wilting and many more thus affecting the final yield. So, Employing an Automated system for Irrigation can save us both our precious resources Water and Labour. For the computation of moisture content in soil, it requires humidity sensor and op-amp LM324 comparator. When the soil dries out, the output of op-amp gives low value. This triggers the timer NE 555IC configured here as monostable multivibrator. As a result, the relay is turned ON. Pump is controlled by relay and in consequence the flow of water from the source to irrigation field is controlled which optimizes the use of water. When the water requirement is fulfilled, system stops the pump. So, this closed loop feedback approach is more efficient and stable way of handling of resources than open loop system at the expense of complexity. The use of Integrated Circuit technology lead to reduce the Complexity of this System. Keywords: Smart irrigation, monostable multivibrator, op-ampCite this ArticleGargi Mishra, Dhruv Kumar Singh, Alekh Juyal, Dhirendra, Kuldeep Chinwan.
