Abstract

The plane wave expansion approach was used to optimise reflectance in a Braggs grating on a silicon on insulator structure at wavelength 1.55µm. When the results were compared to the experimental results, it was discovered that they agreed better than any other present results. Aside from the inherent benefits of FBGs, such as low cost, low losses, polarisation insensitivity, and full compatibility with fiber-optic systems, they have demonstrated that by varying their physical characteristics, they can execute any sophisticated band-limited spectral response. FBGs have become a suitable platform for the creation of all-optical broadband filters and pulse processors due to these characteristics. In this study, we revisit the most popular processing units based on FBGs and the applications that have been presented in the literature, as well as the primary design methods of signal processors based on FBGs.
