Safar – Sathi: A Smart Ride-Sharing Platform
Abstract
In the midst of the increased use of the internet and technology‚ people have begun to change their transportation habits․ This is why we propose Safar-Sathi: A Smart Ride-Sharing Platform‚ a smartphone-based ride-sharing platform that provides cheap‚ convenient and secure transportation services by connecting passengers and nearby drivers․ The application can be used for user registration‚ ride booking‚ real-time tracking on GPS‚ fare calculation‚ user profile building‚ ride history‚ and a rating system for the passengers as well as the drivers in order to make travel easier and help build trust․ The service aims at resolving transport issues often faced by communities‚ such as a lack of available transportation‚ long wait times‚ costly transport‚ and traffic congestion․ The service seeks to optimize car travel by providing shared rides that may help reduce vehicles on the road‚ distances travelled‚ fuel consumption‚ and environmental impacts‚ while providing drivers with flexibility on how to earn income․ The paper highlighted different challenges in implementing the ride-sharing platform such as data privacy and cybersecurity‚ safety of users‚ reliability of operations‚ safety of drivers and regulatory compliance for transportation services․ It also highlighted the need to have surety of ride-sharing services and protecting user data․ Such AI innovations can include demand forecasting‚ optimal route mapping‚ biometric authentication and payment‚ use of electric vehicles‚ and integration with other forms of public transport․ Overall‚ Safar-Sathi can provide an example for using digital technology to help develop a more inclusive‚ efficient‚ sustainable and responsive transport system for users․
