Study of Shear Strength and Hardness of Resistance Spot Welding for Automotive Applications

Abstract: Resistance spot welding is the most popular process used in automotive and aerospace for joining of sheet metals of different thicknesses, shapes, and materials. There has been already much research done on the resistance spot welding. This review paper gives an overview of the performance of resistance spot welds in an automobile. For this, AWS D8.9M:2012 (Test Methods for Evaluating the resistance spot welding behaviour for automotive steel sheet materials) …

An experimental study of Resistance Spot Welding with CRCA sheet

Abstract: Resistance Spot Welding is prime process in automotive industries for joining metal sheets. Different materials are used for making automobile body. Now-a-days, cold rolled closed annealed(CRCA) sheets are used. In this paper, CRCA sheets for 1 mm. thickness is used for experimentation. D.O.E. is used and Input-output parameters are taken according to AWS D8.9M:2012 standard. Results are compared and final result having optimum output parameter is selected.
