Water Electrolysis-based Hydrogen Generation Systems: A ReviewBy Sankar Barman, Pran Hari Talukdar
Abstract: This work presents a review of the works on the water electrolysis-based hydrogen generation systems. The works have been presented in two sections, namely the research done at the international and national levels. As far as the analysis is considered, the focus is on the parametric analysis, which effects the performance of a hydrogen generation system developed using the concept of electrolysis of alkaline solution. The review shows that many …

Analysis of shading and energy generation by PV overhang using different modelsBy Netrasikha Sonowal, Sankar Barman, Hirak Ranjan Das
Abstract: This paper presents the shading and energy generated by photovoltaic integrated overhangs in a building. The air temperature is greatly raised by sunlight entering through glass facades and windows that are not shaded. The overhang decreases the sunlit area of the windows thus decreasing the inside room temperature which decreases the requirement of cooling the rooms. The energy production by the photovoltaic modules has been calculated using three popular energy …

Evaluation of Electrical and Thermal Energy Performance of a Semi-transparent Photovoltaic Module Integrated Double Pane Window System Under Different Air Flow StrategiesBy Sankar Barman
Abstract: Prudent manoeuvring of waste heat generated in the air cavity of a double pane photovoltaic window can increase thermal output besides improving energy generation. This paper presents the performance of a Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) thin-film semi-transparent photovoltaic (STPV) module integrated double pane window system under three different modes of operation. The modes of operation cover direct and indirect influences of the indoor environment in the cavity air flow. For simulation …

Macro-flow Dynamics of Wind over C H and L type BuildingsBy Hirak Ranjan Das, Sankar Barman, Kalyan Kumar Das
Abstract: Synoptic and downburst winds are most prevalent in the Indian subcontinent. This paper presents the analysis of the dynamics of these two winds around different buildings using numerical simulation. ANSYS CFX 18 code has been used for the simulation. To maintain accuracy in the results, the grid independence test has been considered. Three commonly used building types C, H and L have been considered for the study. For each type …

Innermost Surface Temperature Characteristics of Solar Photovoltaic Double Pane WindowBy Sankar Barman, Hirak Ranjan Das
Abstract: A window has a great role in the thermal comfort and HVAC load of a building. The role of a window in the HVAC load further increases in a location where both the summer and winter conditions are severe. In the above context, the innermost surface of a double pane window system is the most important. The present paper presents an analysis of the temperature characteristics of the innermost surface …
