Heat Transfer Analysis Through External Fins by CFD ToolBy Manmatha K. Roul, Laxman K. Sahoo, Saipad B.B.P.J. Sahu, Sibakanta Sahu, Ashok K. Pradhan, Prateek D. Roul
Abstract: The natural convection heat transfer from the heated vertical plates to air can be enhanced with the amendment in the shape of the plates. One of the methods for increasing the heat transfer is by the use of extended surfaces such as external fins. This study includes the CFD analysis of the heat transfer enhancement through different fins having various shapes and sizes considering both conductive and nonconductive fins. The …

Heat Transfer and Exergy Analysis of Methane-Air Flame Impinging on Plane SurfacesBy Manmatha K. Roul, Satyananda Tripathy, Prateek D. Roul, Ashok K. Pradhan, Sibakanta Sahu, Saipad B.B.P.J. Sahu
Abstract: Exergy and heat flow have been numerically investigated for flame impinging on flat circular plates. The maximum work available when the system is brought to thermodynamic equilibrium state with its surrounding is known as the exergy of a system. This state of equilibrium of the system depends on the pressure, temperature, and composition of environment. Efficiency based on exergy is otherwise known as the second-law efficiency which measures the usefulness …

Natural Convection flow through Heated Vertical parallel platesBy Manmatha K. Roul, Prateek D. Roul, Ramesh Chandra Nayak, Chandrika Samal, Saipad B.B.P.J. Sahu
Abstract: This article presents the theoretical and experimental analysis of natural convection heat transfer through heated vertical parallel plates. Two vertical parallel plates are heated by providing electrical heating coils on the external surface of the plates maintaining uniform heat flux conditions at the wall. The length, width and thickness of each plate is 500 mm, 150 mm and 5 mm respectively. Outer surface is insulated and thus allowing the heat …
