Evaluating the Use of Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Surgical Procedures: A Study Conducted at a Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital in Southern India
Abstract: Background: Prophylactic antibiotics can reduce the frequency of postoperative wound infections. Well-designed trials have demonstrated that the appropriate administration of prophylactic antibiotics in surgeries can reduce postoperative infections to about one-half of the incidence in untreated patients.
