  Abstract: Two degrees of freedom (2-DOF) Smith predictor based observer controller is designed for load frequency control of two area systems with communication delay. The conventional proportional integral (PI) controller is used for command tracking and an independent observer based feedback controller is designed for disturbance of change in load demand.
