Duplication of Great Saphenous Vein (GSV), A Rare Variation: A Case ReportBy Adil Asghar
Abstract: Anatomy of great saphenous vein has an importance in varicosity of lower limb and where venous graft is needed. We described unique duplication pattern of great saphenous vein reported in during routine dissection. The incidence of duplication of great saphenous vein is 1.3%. This report will increase awareness in vascular ultrasonologist and clinician about great saphenous vein related to varicosity and venous graft. Key words: great saphenous vein, duplication, Egyptian …

Estimation of Splenic Volume: Prolate Ellipsoid Method Correlated with 3-D Helical CT DeterminationBy Adil Asghar, Shagufta Naaz, Dushyant Agrawal, P.K. Sharma, Ashok Sahai, Ragini Singh, S.M. Yunus
Abstract: To establish the correlation between two methods of volume estimation of spleen, e.g., prolate ellipsoid formula and 3-D reconstruction of abdominal helical CT-image. Settings and Design: One hundred twenty-six patients were selected aged between 20 and 80 years in which male and female were 72 and 54 respectively for cross-sectional study. Patients who had underlying malignancy, infections, hematological disorders and other conditions that could alter splenic size were excluded. Methods …

Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) Thickness and Its Correlation with High Myopia: A Preliminary NormogramBy Adil Asghar, Abdul Waris, Mousami Malakar
Abstract: To evaluate the association of high myopia with Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) thickness especially in the peripheral retina after ruling out other causes of RNFL thinning. An observational cross-section study was conducted. Excluding concomitant ophthalmic diseases we have selected Fifty highly myopic eyes and forty emmetropic eyes for RNFL thickness measurment using the Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD OCT). Average thickness of RNFL in myopic eye was 87.89 …

Normal Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) Thickness in Indian Population: Optical Coherence TomogramBy Adil Asghar, Syed Mobashir Yunus, Mousami Malakar, Abdul Waris
Abstract: We determine normal retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) in the normal North Indian population as measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT). It provides cross-sectional observational study. Twenty normal subjects from 10 to 45 yrs old (40 study eyes) have been selected as participants for this study. As a method, peripapillary fast RNFL scans performed by FD-OCT with a nominal diameter of 3.46 mm centered on the optic disc were performed …
